Last weak I put him in methylene blue for a few days and he looked the same so I just put him back in the community tank because the bowl does not have a heater. He swims around all the time eats normally and is very comfortable with the two Corry catfish I have in the 10 gallon tank with him. Is the spots a sickness or just a sign of old age (I've only had him for 2 months so far). Also the tank is kept at 75 degrees all the time and I do a 25% water change every other week, tank has filter and lights as well.

Also I've read to put aquarium salt in a fresh water tank to help prevent sickness, will the salt effect the cat fish or whit gold mountain minnows?
