Whats the difference between 14k gold and 585 ?

Hi ,
I am going to pop the question to my girlfriend of 5 years , and looking to buy a cheap but quality 14k ring Cubic Zirconia Ring . Some online retailers are selling the ring that I like but it is Stamped with 585 . What is the difference can someone please tell me ? Also , it would be great help to guide me to a good online retailer .

There is actually no real difference . So here is the break down :

24 k Gold is 100% pure

18K Gold is 75% Pure

14k Gold is 58.5% Pure and

10K Gold is 41.6% Pure

Please notice the 14k gold = 58.3% = 585

In USA it is only used in Karats or , 24k , 18k , 14k , and 10k , but in Europe it is by percentage or
