When I was at the pet store I got neon orange pink yellow and green gravel. Is this ok with neon/cardinal tetr?

With neon/ cardinal tetras? I read that they should have dark colors after I already bought it. Tips on the fish is appreciated.

Agh.... sorry. It's all a matter of personal taste, but I hate those neon color gravels.
That being said, when I worked at a fish department, they were one of the most popular. But eeeewwww.

Ok, to answer your question, no the fish could care less. Now cardinals are already bright, so against a bright gravel well.... again. eeeewwwww.
They look stunning with black gravel, dark brown, like that.

But.. you could add lots of plants and get away with it.

one thing you should know, if the tank is real bright, bright fish tend to lighten up trying to "blend in." They darken up in dark settings which is one reason they look so much better with dark gravel. Pale cardinals sort of defeats the whole point of buying such pretty fish.

There ARE fish that can look stunning against hot pink and like that.
Black mollies. Black anything. Glass fish, glass cats are really cool. They look good in any setting because they pick up what ever color they are in. Like a prism.
Silver fish, lots come in silver.
Angelfish. (They will get big, if you have a big tank they can grow up with cardinals just fine. They need to be raised with them though.)

Hey, as much as I hate those colors, my very first guppy tank had hot pink gravel. (Which didn't last. It ended up in a terrerrium. Got dark blue for my blue delta guppies and they looked SO much better.)
