450 Marlin on Water Buffalo?

I want to purchase a Browning BLR Take-down and a good excuse to purchase one is for Hog hunting but also I want to do a bit of Water Buffalo hunting (Australia) The biggest calibre that it comes in is 450Marlin. If I hand load barnes banded solids will it be capable of killing a water buffalo (shot through the head). I would think it can, also if it doesn't die the first shot it is a lever action so a quick follow up shot would come. I would think it should work on buffalo

A friend of mine used a modern 45-70 lever action for bison, didn't need a head shot and actually a head shot on a somewhat dangerous animal isn't the best choice. My other friends went to Africa last years and both got Cape Buffs, one with .375 H&H and the other with a custom built 45-70 bolt action.
